Pale Moon is available on Windows and most Linux platforms. It seems that Pale Moon's independence, customizability, and a belief in its UXP platform remain its main draws. Pale Moon forked from Firefox as early as Firefox 1.5.x, however it took years for it to grow and mature to the project it is currently. (But that's probably where the similarities end!) Pale Moon is an older fork than Waterfox and has completely moved in a different direction than other Firefox forks it currently uses its own engine, Goanna and its own platform, UXP. Now that I know how to do this, it should not be any problem on my new Win 7 desktop. Both are installed on my XP, but only Pale Moon on my Win 7 laptop. I also never realized that Pale Moon and Firefox shared the same Profile, until I started this work. When I checked with Explorer, ‘parent.lock’ had been installed. So after a few tries, I just chose the ‘Skip’ button. I searched my laptop, and ‘parent.lock’ is only used by Pale Moon, and Pale Moon was closed. During the copy process, I kept getting a ‘File in Use’ message for ‘parent.lock’, which said the file is open in another program. So I then deleted ‘fault’ from Win 7, and then I could copy it from my XP.ģ. I first tried to overwrite the ‘fault’ file with the one from my XP. They appear to point to each other in some way, because making a change in one automatically makes the same changes in the other.Ģ. One is in ‘….\ AppData\Moonchild Productions\Pale Moon\Profiles\.’, and the other is in ‘…\ Application Data\Moonchild Productions\Pale Moon\Profiles\.’.
